A Report on the Swachhata Abhiyan Awareness activities undertaken by students under the directives of DMC.
Day - 1 on 06 / 01 / 2018:- An Essay writing Competition was organised in the Women's Wing campus of the college. The programme began at 2:00 P.M. The students were asked to write essay on “Swachhata Abhiyan: Ek Sarthak Pehal“. The students showed exuberance and more than fifty students participated in the activity. They were made aware of their responsibilities towards the great National drive of Swachhata Abhiyan.
Day - 2 on 07 / 01 / 2018:- The students were guided as to prepare documents on the clean - drive activities undertaken by DMC in their localities in Dhanbad. They were advised to go through the Newspapers and interact with the local people to obtain help for their documentation.
Day - 3 on 08 / 01 / 2018:- A Quiz was organised. The students participated in the activity. A Talk on Cleanliness Drive was also arranged as to motivate the students and enrich them with more informations on Swachhata Abhiyan.
Day - 4 on 09 / 01 / 2018:- The students were made to discuss their views on different aspects of possible activities to be taken up for further improvements in the Mission. They were also guided to frame up their respective documents based on their discussion.
Day - 5 on 10 / 01 / 2018:- A Debate was organised. The students participated in it and presented their view points on the subject of Swachhata Mission.
They came up with their valuable idaes as to empower the activities of the Mission.
All the above activities were organised under the banner of NSS of the College. Prof. P. Shekhar, Principal of the college, Prof. Sanjay Prasad, Dr. Mina Malkhandi, Prof. Santosh Kumar, Prof. Dipak Kumar were always present in the activity and made necessary advice in need.

The NSS Units - 1 & 2 of Guru Nanak College, Dhanbad celebrated National Youth Day today in the Seminar hall of the college at Bhuda. The programme began at 11:30 A.M. The programme was inaugurated by Prof. P. Shekhar, Principal of the college, by lightning Inaugural lamp and by offering flowers before the picture of Swami Vivekananda. He said in his address to the students that the ideology of the Swamiji is much needed in this time. He emphasised on the purity of soul and character of the Youth of society. He further added that only selfless work like Vivekananda did, could achieve true service to humanity. On this occasion, an essay cum elocution competition was organised. More than eighty two students participated in the activity. They were asked to write essays on "Swami Vivekananda: A Youth Icon".
In the competition, Swarnim Dey got 1st position, Akhil Raj Shekhar 2nd position and Sudeshna Benarjee got 3rd position. The winners were given Prizes by Prof. Debashis Bose, Prof. In-charge of the College. Dr. Munishwar Prasad, Dr. Sanjay Prasad, Dr. Ranjana Das and Non teaching Staff were present at the occasion. Dr. Mina Malkhandi compered and Prof. Dipak Kumar gave Vote of Thanks on the occasion. The activity began with NSS Song and concluded with National Anthem.

Today - 25/01/2018, on the occasion of National Voter's Day, the NSS units 1&2 of Guru Nanak College, Dhanbad, organized Voters awareness rally in Bhuda, Dhanbad. More than seventy student volunteers along with teachers and staff participated in the activity. The rally started from the college campus and moved through Bhuda bazaar, Rani road and residential area of Bhuda. The students carried banners and placards, raised different slogans so as to spread awareness in the said area.
Dr. Gopal Kr. Sandilya, Prof. in charge, Bhuda campus of the college, Prof. Arvind Kumar, Dr. Munishwar Prasad, Prof. Amarjit Singh, Prof. Sanjay Sinha, Prof. Santosh Kumar, Sri M.H. Ansari, Sri Muralidharan, Sri Anant Mohan Singh, Sri Indradev Singh, Sri Imtiaz Ahmed, Sri Ranjeet Mishra, Sardar Sarabjit Singh, Sri Pappu Kumar took part enthusiastically in the rally and guided students in need.

Along with the celebration of Republic Day, our college celebrates this day also as 'Annual Day of college'. The NSS units actively joined hands with the teachers and staff of the college so as to organise the function of the day. Right from the morning, the volunteers made themselves ready and available for all sorts of needful services throughout the day. They decorated the campus and the flag - post with colourful papers and artful rangolis. On this day, along with other student - achievers of the college, 22 NSS volunteers were given mementoes and certificates for their service as best volunteers of the year.
Swachh Bharat Internship Programme 2018 was undertaken from 08 / 06 / 2018 under the banner of NSS Units 1 & 2 of Guru Nanak College, Dhanbad. The programme conducted from 08 / 06 / 2018 to 22 / 06 / 2018. Sixty student-volunteers participated in the activity. The volunteers in four groups performed different activities in college campus, nearby areas and in the adopted village (Dhokra) for fifteen days and imparter 100 hours of service in the society.

Guru Nanak College NSS Units - 1 & 2 observed International Day of Yoga on 21st June 2018 in the Multipurpose hall of the college in Bank More, Dhanbad from 9:30 A.M. to 10:30 A.M.
More than hundred students of the college participated in the Yoga class. Mr. Amit Kumar and his team from Arogya Yogshala presented Yoga Asanas and talked on the importance of Pranayam, Surya Namaskar Halasan, Meditation and Naturopathy.
Prof. P. Shekhar, Principal of the college and many teachers like Dr. Sanjay Prasad, Dr. Munishwar Prasad, Prof. Pushpa Tiwari, Prof. Uday Sinha, Prof. Ramesh Sharma and Non-teaching staff had been present throughout the Yoga session and participated in the activity with all zeal.

A Blood Donation camp was organized by Guru Nanak College NSS Units - 1 & 2 in collaboration with Masonic Lodge, Dhanbad, No.95 in the Women's Wing of the college on 24/06/2018 on the occasion of Universal Brotherhood Day. This camp was dedicated to the fond memory of Late Kumkum Shekhar. NSS volunteers, NCC cadets and BCA students of the college donated Forty units of blood. The camp held under the medical supervision of the Doctors and technical assistants of Patliputra Medical College and Hospital, Dhanbad.
Many respected members and dignitaries of Masonic lodge like Bro. Purnendu Shekhar, Bro. V. K. Ailavadi, Bro. V. K. Kapahi, Bro. A. K. Chakraverty, Bro. Sanjay Kumar Jha, Bro. A. K. Singh, Bro. Dr. T.N. Ghosh, Bro. Dr. N. K. Maitra, Bro. R. K. Karan, Bro. S. K. Sinha and Bro. G. L. Burnwal were present and made needful contributions.
Prof. P. Shekhar, Principal of the college was present throughout the camp with all his supports and blessings. Many teachers like Prof. Sunil Sinha, Dr. Sanjay Prasad, Dr. Ranjana Das, Prof. Pushpa Tiwari, Dr. Sarita Madesia, Lt. Sanjay Singh (NCC Officer) and Non teaching staff were also present throughout the program with all readiness.

NSS Units - 1 & 2 of Guru Nanak College, Dhanbad organised Road Safety Awareness Programme on 19th July 2018 at Main Campus, Bhuda. The programme was presented by PIU team of Road Safety Cell. Sri Pushkar Ji talked at length on cause and effect of disobedience of Traffic rules. Sri Shubhankar Mishra, Road Safety Manager, enumerated several safety measures to be taken while using roadways. He further stressed upon wearing good quality helmets, seat belts, avoiding alcohol consumption, using zebra crossing, prohibiting Minors from driving etc. Traffic In-charge, Sri Manik Chand Murmu talked about different types of penalties, fines for breaking traffic rules and said that death itself is the ultimate penalty for such offences.
NSS volunteers - Simran Chhabra and Rohit Kumar shared their views on traffic safety. Today, on 29 / 07 / 2018, NSS units(1 & 2) of Guru Nanak College, Dhanbad celebrated "Van Mahotsav" today. The Chief Guest on the occasion was Sri Raj Sinha, M. L. A. of Dhanbad, Jharkhand. He inaugurated the program by planting a sapling in the College campus. Then the guests, accompanied with him, followed with more saplings in the campus. Prof. P. Shekhar, the Principal of the College along with faculty members also planted saplings. The volunteers participated in the activity and had done the preparatory work for the purpose two days before yesterday. They planted saplings in Bhuda, a village outside campus.

The NSS units celebrated Independence Day with all enthusiasm. The volunteers participated in cultural activity. They worked under the supervision of the Programme Officers. They assisted in all ways to organise the function go smooth and successful.
The units celebrated NSS Day on 24th Sept. 2018. A talk on the importance of the day was organised in the Women's Wing of the college. NSS volunteers and the Prog. Officers motivated other students to take part in the event. Prog. officers, Sri Dipak Kumar and Dr. Mina Malkhandi said in their speech about history and objectives behind NSS.
The Principal of the college, Prof. P. Shekhar said that the end of all learning is service to humanity and the NSS units prepare such volunteers as to serve society. Dr. Sanjay Prasad, Dr. Munishwar Prasad, Prof. Amarjit Singh, Dr. Ranjana Das, Prof. Sanjay Sinha, Prof. Santosh Kumar also spoke on the occasion.
Guru Nanak College, Dhanbad under the banner of NSS Celebrated Vallabhbhai Patel's Birth Anniversary on 31st October 2018 as National Unity Day at the Women's Wing of the college from 2 P.M.
The core activity of the program was an essay competition. More than fifty students took part in it. The title of the essay was - "Sardar Vallabh bhai Patel: His role in unification of India".
There was also a talk program on the occasion. The program started with N. S. S. song. Then a series of lectures were delivered by many students of the college. The program was presided over by Prof. P. Shekhar, Principal of the college. In his lecture, he talked on the life and works of Sardar Vallabh bhai Patel. He also said on why he is called "Iron man of India", his important steps towards strengthening Unity, Safety and Security of India. Dr. Sanjay Prasad, Prof. Santosh Kumar, Prof. Dipak Kumar and Dr. Mina Malkhandi also talked on the revolutionary thoughts of the great leader. All the members of teaching and Non - teaching staff were present at the occasion.
