It is a statutory responsibilities of an academic institution to set up a women’s cell (Cell against Sexual Harassment). It is important that preventive measured be taken in that direction. With that perspective in view a women’s cell (Cell against Sexual Harassment) was formed in the Guru Nanak College, Dhanbad on 14.04.2013.
The following were the members of the cell:-
(1) Dr. Ranjana Das --- Convener (2) Dr. Mina Malkhandi --- Member (3) Ms. Shubha Ajwani --- Member (4) Ms. Vinoti Trivedi --- Member
All; issues related with sexual harassment of women in the college will be referred to the women’s cell (Cell against Sexual Harassment) for enquiry and also for recommendation for quantum of punishment. These all encourages and fosters a respectful work and learning environment in the college.
The cell was re-constituted in the year 2015, which is thus:-

An incident of sexual harassment of a student was brought to the notice of the college administration in June, 2016. There was a charge against a teacher of computer science of misconduct .The matter was referred to women’s cell (Cell against Sexual Harassment) of the college. A detailed enquiry was done and findings were submitted to the Principal with specific recommendations. The matter was finally referred to the Guru Nanak College Governing Council , the said teacher was asked to depose and explain his conduct before the members of the council.
Finally he was found to be guilty of sexual harassment of the student, and was removed from the college service.
