The 71st Republic day was celebrated in all its solemnity and grandeur at Guru Nanak College, Dhanbad, Bhuda Campus.
The day is celebrated both as Republic Day as well as Founders’ day of the college. The ceremony began with the flag hoisting by the Principal of the college Prof. P. Shekhar. He along with the Secretary of the college Sardar D.S. Grewal, inspected the Guard Of Honour presented by NCC Cadets of the college. After rendering of a patriotic song by the students, the Principal Prof. P. Shekhar made the welcome address and also presented the report of the activities - success and failure of the year before the stakeholders of the college. The Secretary of the college Sardar D.S. Grewal blessed the occasion with his inspiring speech for the students of the college and expressed his satisfaction about the performance of the institution during the past year. The Prof-In-Charge of the Girls’ Wing Dr. Ranjana Das and Prof-In-Charge of the Boys’ Wing Dr. Sanjay Prasad also presented their points of view about future proposals for the wellbeing of the institution.
Then began the most awaited portion of the day, the felicitation ceremony in which 73 students were felicitated for their excellent performance in academics where as 153 students were felicitated for their performance in Co-curricular and extra curricular activities of the college.
Dr. Gopal Shandilya HOD, Dept. Of Commerce presented the formal vote of thanks. Prof. Arvind Kumar HOD, Dept. Of Hindi along with Dr. Varsha Singh and Prof. Nita Ojha compered the occasion. The patriotic song “Laksysanaojhal hone paye” choired by the students reverberated the surroundings.
The event was graced by the presence of the members of the Gurudwara Prabandhak committee (Parent Body of the college), Governing Council, all the teachers, non-teaching staff, students and their parents.
