The Department of Economics is one of the Core departments of our College, established in 1970. The Department offers three - year Degree Programme in Honours/General course under CBCS system. Earlier, we were affiliated to Ranchi University and their after to Vinoba Bhave University. Presently, we are under Binod Bihari Mahto Koyalanchal University, Dhanbad.
The Department had a modest beginning. Since then Department has grown in size and offers quality education to our students in Hons./Gen. programme. The students who passed out from the department have joined many Universities within and outside the State for Higher studies.
We do rely on conventional method of teaching. However, Department also organises class room Seminars on current issues to enrich the thought - process of our students. Even ICT enabled mode of education is also provided to our students to enhance and optimize the delivery of information. Students of the Department get the facility of Departmental Library comprising of good quality books and Journals like, Yojana, Economic and Political Weekly etc. Library with Internet facility is also available to the students of the Department.
Students of the Department have joined spoken Tutorial – FOSS programme – an initiative of MHRD, Govt. of India and a part of National Mission on Education through information and communication Technology (NMEICT) developed at IIT BOMBAY. In recent past many of them have successfully completed “Introduction to Computers” course meant for other department. Students of Department of Economics participate in various social awareness programmes through NSS and NCC of our college to reach out to the society. Department also organizes PTM to apprise the parents about the functioning of the department and performance of their ward.
